Upon graduating from Social Thought, Julia Laurel Mueller moved to the Potomac Highlands of West Virginia. She does some teaching remotely in the UChicago Basic Program of Liberal Arts Education for Adults, and has held a postdoctoral fellowship in the Cornell Society for the Humanities.
She is a writer and an independent scholar. Her essays and reviews have appeared or are forthcoming in ASAP/Review, Bright Wall/Dark Room, Diacritics, EcoTheo Review, ELH, The Hopkins Review, Kestrel, Literary Imagination, Literary Matters and Menagerie. She is at work on a monograph, A Poetics of Birds, as well as a series of lyrical and personal essays on ephemeral encounters in and out of nature. You can visit her website here.
