Jozef Majerník is a Schwarz Postdoctoral Fellow at the Institute of Philosophy of the Slovak Academy of Sciences. He is the author of The Young Nietzsche’s Education: An Interpretation of Nietzsche’s Untimely Considerations (SUNY Press 2025), and he is currently working on a book on Jan Patočka as a Platonist and on the wider milieu of phenomenological returns to Plato. His main interests are Nietzsche and Plato (especially as psychologists, i.e., knowers of the nature and structure of the human soul), and phenomenological thinkers like Edmund Husserl, Martin Heidegger, Hannah Arendt, Hans Jonas, Jacob Klein, Karl Löwith, Jan Patočka, or Leo Strauss, particularly their diagnoses of the crisis of modernity and their related appropriations of ancient thought.

Education: B.A. in Political Science, BISLA, 2012; M.A. in Philosophy, Leiden University
