Mentored Teaching

Students Enrolling Autumn 2025 and Later

All students must meet the divisional teaching requirement as a condition for graduation. Instructional grader positions cannot be counted towards the teaching requirement.

Students Enrolling Autumn 2024 and Earlier

All students, as part of the requirements of the Ph.D. program, must complete five points of Mentored Teaching Experiences (MTE) as part of their pedagogical training. Students progressing through the program will receive points for certain mentored teaching activities. Approval for MTEs from advisors and the Director of Graduate Studies will prioritize CHD housed courses above CHD cross-listed courses and above courses housed in other Departments, Divisions, Institutes or Programs.  Students should complete at least two MTEs by the end of their third year.
